News released on Vesak Day Intenational Conference that China will hold First WBF

Vesak Day Buddhist Conference

On 17th May 2005, Ye Xiaowen, president of the China Religious Culture Communication Association, and Master Yi Cheng, president of the Buddhist Association of China headed a delegation attending the UN Vesak Day International Buddhist Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.

At the conference, the Chinese delegation announced the news that China will hold the First World Buddhist Forum in 2006 on the Chinese mainland and extended a warmly invitation to the world, which aroused widespread attention and active response from the participants.

The representatives of 41 countries attending the conference promised in the conference communiqué reached later that they will support and help China to host the forum.
