World Buddhist Forum - new practice of the religions in China

To host the First World Buddhist Forum is a positive and new practice conducted by China, which is pushing forward its opening-up and reform efforts, said Qi Xiaofei, vice president and secretary-general of the China Religious Culture Communication Association, at a press conference for the First World Buddhist Forum held on January 10, 2006.

According to Qi, the China Religious Culture Communication Association is established on the basis of integrating various resources with China's religious culture and promoting communication, exchange, mutual understanding and cooperation between different Chinese religions and the religions from across the world.

The first thing the China Religious Culture Communication Association should do, Qi said, is to co-host, together with the Buddhist Association of China, the First World Buddhist Forum which is scheduled to be held in April this year.
